Moving Forward with Intention in 2026
As we close out another year, many of us are reflecting on what worked, what changed, and what we want more of moving forward. In the world of real estate and design, 2025 reminded us of something important: homes are no longer just products, they’re personal.
And that mindset is shaping everything we’re seeing as we head into 2026.
Interior Trends for 2026: Comfort Is King
The biggest shift I see going into the new year isn’t about a specific color or furniture style, it’s about how a home feels.
In 2026, design is moving toward:
Softer, warmer palettes that feel calming rather than stark
Thoughtful layouts that support real daily living
Comfortable, livable furnishings that invite people to stay
Personal touches that reflect the homeowner’s authentic style
Mixing old and new, modern and vintage, living with the things you love
Buyers are craving homes that feel grounded, welcoming, and emotionally safe. The era of overly styled, untouchable spaces is fading. What’s replacing it is something far more powerful: connection.

Real Staging for Real Homes
This is exactly where occupied home staging shines.
Many sellers today are still living in their homes while they’re on the market, especially in a slower or shifting market. Vacant staging isn’t always realistic, and “doing nothing” is rarely effective.
Occupied home staging meets homeowners where they are. It works with what they already own, enhances it strategically, and creates a space that photographs beautifully and functions comfortably in real life.
This isn’t about perfection; it’s about presentation with purpose.

Why Occupied Staging Matters in a Down Market
In a more competitive market, buyers have choices. Homes that feel cold, cluttered, or unfinished are easy to scroll past.
Occupied staging:
Helps listings stand out online
Allows buyers to emotionally connect to the space
Shows how rooms truly function
Creates trust and authenticity instead of a “showroom” feel
For sellers, it means fewer days on market and stronger offers. For buyers, it means walking into a home that feels right.

Why I Do What I Do
I believe deeply that staging should feel achievable, respectful, and human. I don’t believe in stripping homes of personality, I believe in refining it.
My approach is rooted in real life:
Real homes
Real families
Real budgets
Real results
I help homeowners and realtors present spaces in a way that feels intentional, elevated, and honest without losing comfort or soul. That balance is where results happen.

Looking Ahead to 2026
As we move into the new year, I encourage homeowners and sellers to think differently about their spaces. Let your home reflect who you are now. Let comfort coexist with style. Let authenticity lead.
Whether you’re preparing to sell, refreshing your space, or simply wanting your home to feel better aligned with your life, 2026 is the year to do it thoughtfully.

Wishing You a Beautiful New Year
Thank you to everyone who trusted me with their homes this year, homeowners, realtors, and partners alike. It’s truly an honor to do this work.
Here’s to a happy, healthy, and inspired new year! And to homes that feel just as good as they look.

If you’d like help preparing your home for the market or creating a space that feels more like you, I’d love to connect.

See you next year!
Thanks for reading.
Until next time,
Shirley
